3 face yoga exercises to tone the face, lift the skin, and avoid double chin
Face yoga, commonly known as facial yoga or facial exercises, is a natural method to rejuvenate and exercise the facial and neck muscles.
On Tuesday's episode of "Unang Hirit," Dr. Emehly Sevilla, an aesthetics, anti-aging & regenerative medicine specialist, demonstrated three face yoga practices that help to tone the face, lift and tighten the skin, and avoid the appearance of a double chin.
"Itong face yoga is a facial exercises na ginagawa para pumayat 'yung ating face, ma-achieve natin 'yung contour na gusto natin at mag-lift 'yung face natin para di mag sag," Sevilla explained.
Face yoga is based on the idea that facial muscles, like those in the rest of our body, can be targeted and exercised to maintain their tone and strength.
"Dapat ine-exercise din natin ang ating mga face kasi napapabayaan natin 'yung mga face natin, so nagiging malamya 'yung muscles natin pag 'di natin 'to ine-exercise," she said.
With face yoga, you won't be needing any equipment, just your hands for support and a series of facial movements. If you want to try it out, here are three face yoga exercises that you can do while standing up or sitting in a comfortable seat.
To avoid a double chin
To avoid a double chin, you must look up and support the muscles on your throat with two fingers and touch the tip of your upper lip through your tongue. Do this 12 to 15 times with three repetitions each day.
"Kailangan naka-elongate 'yung neck para humaba rin yung ating neck," Dr. Sevilla added.
To slim the face
To help slim the face, close your mouth and puff some air to your left and right cheek as well as to the upper and lower parts of your mouth. Do it consecutively 12 to 15 times with three repetitions each day.
To lift the face
Last but not least, to help lift the face or to avoid skin sagging, smile without your eyes and touch the temporal area of your face with your two hands to help lift the face. Do it consecutively 12 to 15 times with three repetitions each day.
