Baron Geisler shares biggest lesson on life, career: 'Show up'

Baron Geisler was more than happy to share some hard-won lessons he's learned from his life.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the actor said the biggest life lesson he's learned is to "not go against authority."

"And that's in general — andiyan na yung government, Panginoon, mga boss natin, mga kaibigan na nagmamahal at nagbibigay ng advice," he explained.

Meanwhile, the biggest lesson he learned as an actor is to love his career.

"Dumating ang time na ilang beses binigyan ako ng pagkakataon pero I took everything for granted," Baron explained.

It goes without saying the loving his career also includes loving and respecting his colleagues. "May balik yang maganda," he said.

"And be consistent," Baron added. "Dati, sinungaling kasi ako. Haharap ako, 'you know, I'm a changed man' pero ang dami pa palang kailangan i-process. Micro things, small things."

Baron said he is still learning, and admits he still commits mistakes every so often. "I'm not perfect. I'm a work in progress. Nagkakamali pa rin ako, pero ang importante, tumayo agad. Show up."

Baron's troubled past is not a mystery to fans of Philippine showbiz. He's previously made headlines for a number of problematic behavior.

In 2019 however, he said he was a changed man. That year, he married Jaime Evangelista, a clinical psychologist he met in rehab, and was appointed the ambassador of peace and prosperity by the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo in the same year.

Last year, he gave a rousing performance in the emotional movie "Dollhouse," where he played the role of Rustin, a troubled man who sets out to build a relationship with his long-lost daughter.

Baron's performance caught the eye of many industry bigwigs including the likes of Aga Mulach.

In Friday's interview, Baron said he was "done performing and people-pleasing. It's high time for me to just be me and if ever I have to perform and give all my service to, aside from my career, it's him and my family. It's that simple."

"What matters is being authentic to myself and the people around me. Kasi once I am in my true form, being authentic with the way I feel, think, everything will follow," he added. — LA, GMA Integrated News
