Miles Ocampo reveals undergoing thyroidectomy surgery

Miles Ocampo revealed she had thyroidectomy surgery following a papillary thyroid carcinoma diagnosis.

According to WebMD, this is the most common type of cancer to affect the thyroid, or a gland that is below the voice box.

The actress and host shared that she has not “felt my normal self” since late last year.

“Waking up in the middle of the night cause I can’t breathe, I get tired so easily, sooooo frustrated with my weight gain, para akong palaging hapong-hapo and sinasakal.. then finally I had the courage to have it checked,” Miles said on Instagram.

"For someone who’s afraid of needles I feel like it was an endless blood tests, ultrasound to biopsy, then the decision to remove it ASAP.. we found out it was Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma," she added.

Miles said that she had to undergo thyroidectomy surgery to remove her thyroid glands and that “it all happened in an instant.”

She then thanked everyone who was with her throughout the journey, like her doctors for making her feel safe, and her family for making sure she is not alone. She expressed gratitude for Crown Artist Management “for always messaging me to remind me that everything will be alright, and for giving me the green light to share all of this.”

Miles likewise thanked her “Eat Bulaga” family who constantly checked up on her, as well as her boyfriend Elijah Canlas, or Luiz, and his parents.

“And lastly to my Luiz, I couldn’t have done any of this without you. Thank you for encouraging me to face my fears with doctors and hospital, to prioritize myself and to love myself. Thank you for being my strongest support,” she said.

Miles sent love to her supporters as well.

“A month after my operation, here I am embracing my journey and sharing it to all of you. I’ve been receiving messages from you guys who has the same situation with me that you’re inspired with what I went through, but sharing your experiences too and reading your comments inspired me too,” she said.

She also gave her followers these reminders.

“You are not alone. Sending my love to everyone. Love and prioritize yourself," she said. "PS: with or without any health conditions, no to body shaming. be kind. always. [Please.]”
