Child with tumor in tongue now slowly recovering thanks to GMA Kapuso Foundation
A child who is suffering from a tumor that causes his tongue to swell is now on his way to recovery thanks to GMA Kapuso Foundation.
Gadiel Caasugan, whose story was first featured in "24 Oras" last year, is now able to go to school and play with other children.
Previously, he grew weak and lost weight because it was difficult for him to eat due to his condition.
"Nabunutan ako ng tinik. Masarap sa pakiramdam na nakikita ko 'yung bata nakakapaglaro na unlike before na laging nakatago sa bahay," said Melvin Bonete, Gadiel's father.
According to Dr. Gil Vicente, an ENT (Ears, Nose, Throat) specialist, the tumor in Gadiel's tongue is a combination of hemangioma at lymphangioma.
Thanks to treatment that he received last year, the tumor is now becoming smaller and he is now able to put it back inside his mouth.
"Lumiit na ng 50% mula sa base line, mapula na rin ang dila niya wala nang dumudugo. We are hoping na tuloy tuloy na ang pagliit ng dila niya hanggang bumalik ito sa normal size," said Dr. Marvin Tamaña, an interventional radiologist at the Philippine Heart Center.
Gadiel still needs two more sessions of sclerotherapy and injectable medicines.
For those who wish to help, the GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Shopee, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.

"Maraming salamat po sa GMA Kapuso Foundation. Sana po tuloy tuloy na ang aking paggaling," Gadiel said.
