Rica Peralejo shares comforting advice about goals and progress as the new year dawns
By now, we're all probably trying to come up with New Year's resolutions as 2022 comes to a close.
But Rica Peralejo shared comforting advice to those who might feel pressured seeing "everyone posting about their great progress in 2022 or high hopes for 2023."
In an Instagram post, she said right off the bat that it's okay "not have a goal right around the time everyone else has."
"IT IS OK TO HAVE GOALS EVEN / ONLY WHEN A YEAR IS ALMOST ABOUT TO END," she said.
She added that people should stop measuring progress by looks and instead assess how they feel. "Strength’s true measure is tested not by optics but by ability."
In a show of wisdom, Rica also enumerated four things that will get you anywhere: "the power to show up, the willingness to try, patience in the process, kindness to the self."
"You need not die in the process of reaching a goal. The goal must be a direction-setter not a slave-driver," she also said. "To try is the win. To actually get it is a bonus."
Rica added that as a new year starts, it's okay to feel "more old than new."
"This is the nature of cusps and turnovers. We are in a transition not yet the conclusion," she said.
Lastly, hindsight is always 20/20, and "you will have a lot more to say at the end of 2023."
"Just enjoy your cheese and drinks and cake tonight!" Rica concluded.
Take it easy, Kapuso. Happy New Year!
