Small Laude buys Christmas gifts for OFW’s family with P2,500

How will Small Laude handle buying Christmas gifts for a family of 10 people with just P2,500?

In the pilot episode of GMA Public Affairs and YouTube’s “Pinoy Christmas in our Hearts,” the socialite and YouTube content creator challenged her shopping skills for OFW Jovani Madera’s loved ones.

“P2,500? My gosh! Anong mabibili ko dito? Oh my gosh!" Small expressed worry in her signature manner. "Hindi ako sanay! My God, pang meryenda. Let’s see how galing I am!”

Despite feeling troubled, Small was able to budget the money well and buy presents that are perfect for each family member - with making “tawad,” of course.

Though she wasn’t used to spending a small amount for presents, Small expressed happiness for being able to surprise an OFW’s family, who has been wishing for Jovani’s presence for years.

“Shoutout sa mga OFW natin kasi sila ang hero natin. Imagine, they help our economy,” she said.

Jovani, a second engineer in the maritime industry, said he hasn’t spent Christmas with his family in Surigao del Sur in his first five years working as a seaman.

But this year’s different.

Without his family knowing, Jovani travelled across seas and went home. He surprised them by buying ice candy from his mom, who sells the sweets for a living.

While shopping with Small, he bought well-thought of gifts for his loved ones including his parents, his grandmother, and his younger brother with P25,000.

More OFWs will be reuniting with their loved ones in the series. They will also be collaborating with a series of content creators including Ninong Ry, Herlene Budol, and Jessica Soho.
