Pia Wurtzbach on finishing the NYC Marathon: 'It wasn't a race, it was an experience. A life lesson'
Pia Wurtzbach is one of the reported 50,000 runners who participated in the recently concluded New York City Marathon.
Her fiance, Jeremy Jauncey happily documented Queen P's experience on Instagram Stories, cheering on her at several points of the route, even joining "the last few miles" of the marathon with Pia, and reporting on her successful finish.
A day later, it was the Miss Universe 2015 who reflected on the experience.
"The NYC Marathon wasn’t a race, it was an experience. A life lesson," Pia said.
"This medal represents how important it is that we keep the promises we make to ourselves," she added.
She turned running into a promise because she wanted to get out of her comfort zone. "I wanted a new challenge, a new discipline," Pia wrote.
While she was aware how much time it was going to take, Pia stuck it out because it "was my way of taking care of myself."
"And now, it has enriched my life so much because it has put me in a better place, so I feel recharged and energized to be of service to others," she said.
Thanking her support group, the beauty queen promised her followers an IG reel, her personal documentation of a very personal experience.
Pia ended her note with something of a pat on the back: "Pwede ko na ring sabihin ngayon: Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach from the Philippines, proudly a NYC marathon finisher."
Nax, Pia! Congratulations!
