What should you do when a wasp stings you? Kuya Kim answers

What should you do when a wasp stings you?

According to Kuya Kim's report on "24 Oras," Thursday, the insect's sting causes allergic reactions. As such, dermatologist Dr. Marijean Marquez said it is essential to seek help when it gets worse.

"Kapag ang reaksyon ay severe at nahihirapan ka na huminga then that's an anaphylactic reaction. What you need to do is to go to an emergency room. Bibigyan ka nila ng epinephrine," she said.

"Bibigyan ka rin nila ng mga gamot na anti-allergy and para sa inflammation," Marquez added.

In Don Carlos, Bukidnon, 18-year-old Gairodine Maute accidentally got stung by a wasp while he and his friends were trying to get fruit from a tree. His lips were swollen for three days.

"Dalawa po 'yung nag-sting sa aking labi. Sobrang sakit. Parang umiinit 'yung labi ko," he said. "Kahit pagsubo ng kutsara, hindi mag-kasya ta's pag-inom ng tubig, gagamit na lang ng straw."

According to entomologist Almhar Cervantes, wasps are more aggressive than bees because they're predators. Some movements may trigger them to attack a person.

To identify a wasp from a bee, Kuya Kim said it has a pointed lower abdomen and a thin waist.
