Kris Aquino gives health update: 'Physical manifestations are pointing to a possible 5th autoimmune condition'

Kris Aquino is back on Instagram to share an update on her health, saying that given her current state, it is possible she might be diagnosed with a fifth autoimmune condition.

Posting a photo of herself with her sons Josh and Bimby next to her, Kris began by saying she didn't want to post until she had clarity about her health situation; her last post was in June.

Thanking her friends and family in the Philippines for their prayers, the Queen of All Media said that tomorrow morning (US time), the Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter or PICC Line in her left arm will be removed, allowing her to rest.

Kris added there have been moments when she "wanted to give up" because of the massive physical strain.

“There have been times [I] wanted to give up—because of fatigue [and] being forever bedridden; the bruises all over my body that suddenly appear; my inability (since February) to tolerate solid food; headaches; bone-deep pain in my spine, knees, joints in my fingers; and my constant flares [especially] in my face that just keep getting worse…” she said in her caption.

“BUT [I] remind myself Kuya [Josh and] Bimb still need me [and] mahiya naman ako sa lahat ng mga patuloy na nagdarasal para gumanda ang kalusugan ko if [I] just give up,” the actress and TV host added.

Kris also said that she and her family are now in Houston, Texas where she will start her treatment, which includes chemotherapy.

“[I] am grateful to be blessed to have the means for us to move to another state, and have more tests done and go to other specialists; and finally start my immunosuppressant therapy.”

Clarifying she didn't have cancer, Kris shared she will need to undergo chemotherapy as treatment and that it may make her lose her hair.

"Hair will eventually grow back but permanently damaged organs won’t—so dedma muna sa vanity,” she wrote.

Kris then shared their family’s “love [and] gratitude” to their “new friends [and] guardian angels in Houston.”

Before ending her post, Kris clarified the previous reports about being diagnosed with more autoimmune diseases.

“Naguluhan si Ate [Ballsy Aquino-Cruz] during the zoom Q&A: to clarify [when] we left, I was already diagnosed with [three] autoimmune conditions. It was while here in Houston that [I] was diagnosed with a [fourth].”

Kris was previously diagnosed with autoimmune thyroiditis, chronic spontaneous urticaria, and the ultra-rare eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, which she said were “life threatening.”

“Unfortunately all my physical manifestations are pointing to a possible [fifth]—opo, pinakyaw ko na!” Kris said.

Kris signed her post with “Good night [and] God bless to all with #lovelovelove from Kuya, Bimb, and me.” — LA, GMA News
