Marian Rivera talks Total Expert Protection for raising Sixto
Mom-of-two Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera reflects on her parenting style raising Sixto and her journey as a mother to a toddler.
“Noong kay Zia, I asked help from my Lola and Mama kung paano ba yung mga kailangan kong gawin,” Marian admits as she reminisces about her first journey into motherhood. “Pero nung dumating si Sixto, mas confident na ako kung paano magpalaki ng anak.”
Parenting styles change as parents gain more experience, but there are core learnings that are easily adapted from one child to the next. For the actress, one of her tried-and-tested practices is making sure her children are protected with the right nutrition. She also wants to give them a safe environment to explore, and for them to socialize with other kids. This is an activity that Zia enjoys, and now, her youngest son Sixto thrives on as well.
“Ngayong 3 years old na siya, Sixto is active and has a lot of energy. Makikipaglaro siya at kakausapin niya ang ibang mga bata,” shares Marian. “Diyan ako proud sa kanya; hindi siya mayabang. In fact, sobrang malambing si Sixto.” She says that she makes it a point that her sweet-natured son gets to interact with different people so he can grow up well-adjusted.
As toddlers grow older, it’s normal for them to want to do things their way. Experts encourage parents to provide opportunities for children to do tasks or activities on their own because these play a major role in a growing toddler’s mental, physical, and emotional skills.
Speaking from her own journey, Marian recommends nurturing this growing independence at every chance. “Puwedeng mga simpleng bagay lang, like maglalaro kayo, or teach him how to brush his teeth, o kaya naman reading a book. Go to new places like the beach or garden to explore,” she enumerates. “Pero lagi kaming nakabantay sa kanya. Alam niya na nasa tabi lang niya kami palagi kaya he feels safe exploring,” she adds, referring to Sixto’s eagerness to venture on his own.
Toddler health and safety are paramount, especially now that people have started to go out once again since the pandemic started. How else can parents protect their 3+ toddlers without impeding growth?
Nutrition is important at every age, more so during toddlerhood. Giving toddlers a healthy balanced diet of vegetables, fruits, grains, and proteins, complemented with the appropriate growing-up milk, is integral to their physical growth and brain development. This is also important to help build their immunity, improving their bodies’ ability to prevent and overcome illnesses. What children eat early during childhood can affect them throughout the rest of their lives.
Marian learned early on with Zia that just as children’s nutritional requirements constantly change as they grow, so do their milk needs. NIDO® 3+ remains to be her choice of milk for her kids. She continues to trust NIDO® 3+, especially now with its new and improved formula. The new NIDO® 3+ remains to be free from added table sugar and is still rich in nutrients like LACTOBACILLUS PROTECTUS®, has 50% more DHA for Brain (vs. previous recipe), PREBIO3®, Iron, Zinc and other essential vitamins & minerals.
“Kailangang maging discerning ka bilang magulang,” Marian explains with easy confidence. “Gaya sa gatas, NIDO 3+ ang iniinom nina Zia at Sixto.”
The new NIDO® 3+ also has a creamy taste that her kids adore. Just like his big sister Zia, Sixto loves drinking milk. “Favorite ni Sixto ang NIDO 3+,” Marian laughs. “Thankful ako na love niya ang milk. The new NIDO 3+ helps gives them the proper nutrients, along with proper diet and exercise, kaya bilang nanay, kampante ako na they’re getting the right nutrients para sa development and growth nila.”
Marian’s motherhood journey allows her personal growth, believing that her children help her discover her deeper capacity to love. With the help of the new NIDO® 3+, she has grown confident together with Sixto. “We’re all becoming better versions of ourselves,” she muses. “Zia and Sixto are growing up to be healthy and good kids.”
