DOH Home Care Guide: What to do when kids get COVID-19
Many children are falling ill to COVID-19 as cases rise in the country.
With this, many parents wonder what to do if their child gets sick.
According to Ian Cruz's report on "24 Oras" on Wednesday, here's what you need to know when your child gets COVID-19:
As suggested by the Department of Health in its Home Care Guide for Kids, home care can be done to kids without fever.
Among the symptoms parents should watch out for are cough, colds, diarrhea, sore throat, headache, loss of taste and smell, and loss of appetite.
Doctors urged parents to make sure their children are not dehydrated and are eating healthy.
"Kung minsan, bumababa 'yong impeksyon sa baga, 'yong paghinga ng bata ay maalon, lalo sa mga sanggol, mas mataas sa 60 ang bilang ng paghinga tapos mabilis 'yon tapos 'pag two years old mga 40 ang bilang, mas mataas doon. Ito 'yong dapat na-che-check ng nanay," Benito Atienza, president of the Philippine Medical Association, said.
He said parents should rush their children to the hospital if the fever does not go down and if they have difficulty in breathing.
