Miss Universe France 2021 tests positive for COVID-19
Miss Universe France 2021 Clemence Botino has tested positive for COVID-19.
Barely two weeks before the pageant's grand coronation night in Israel, the beauty queen announced the news on Instagram and expressed her sadness over her test result.
"This morning they called to say that I was positive," Botino wrote. "I was shocked and sad, it is truly hard."
"I've been crying all day," she shared.
The first thing she did after hearing the news, the beauty queen said, was to call her family.
"It is not easy to deal with all of that while being far from home...But MUO [Miss Universe Organization] is here to help and to take care of me," she said.
"I'm really tired, so I will take care of myself. I will stay lockdown during 10 days ten I will be tested again."
Botino assured she will remain in touch with her fans and followers and provide updates on social media.
"Even if it is hard, I won't give up. Life has brought me to Israel and everything is ready. Every situation is supposed to make us stronger," she said.
Thanking everyone for their love and support, Botino reminded her followers, "Don't forget to be safe because the virus is still here."
The Jerusalem Post reported Miss Universe Organization's confirmation about a candidate testing positive upon arrival. The organization didn't name names, but said the candidate was fully vaccinated and had been tested before flying to Israel.
MUO said that all those who came in contact with the contestant are being alerted and advised to isolate already.
Israel has closed its borders and banned foreigners from entering its country last week to stave off the Omicron coronavirus variant, but said it will still host the Miss Universe pageant.
Botino, as well as Philippine bet Beatrice Luigi Gomez and other candidates have flown to Israel to compete for the Miss Universe crown.
The grand coronation night is set to be held on December 12 at the Red Sea resort of Eilat. — LA, GMA News
