Bea Alonzo shares how dog Walter helped cure her phobia after childhood experience: 'Nilapa talaga ako ng aso'
Did you know that Walter was actually Bea Alonzo's therapy dog?
In her latest Q&A vlog, the Kapuso actress revealed how Walter helped her overcome a phobia she developed after a traumatic childhood experience.
While playing tagu-taguan (hide and seek) with her cousins, a six-year-old Bea decided to hide in a kitchen that the family had turned into a dog house.
"That's where I hid with my cousin. 'Yun pala, merong bagong panganak na aso don," she said.
Bea did not go into detail about what happened, only that she ended up getting badly hurt (nilapa).
The actress spent the following years being afraid of dogs, but she was finally able to overcome it after meeting Walter.
"Years later — syempre, I had to deal with that, with work, bawat may aso sa set, and all of that. And, three years ago, I was given Walter and he became my therapy dog," she said.
It wasn't easy at first, but Bea eventually opened up her heart to dogs again thanks to Walter.
"'Yun 'yung naaalala kong feeling when I was pushing the dog, I could feel his ribs, so nung una kong nahawakan si Walter and I felt his ribs talagang nahulog ko siya, grabe yung trauma ko but then, he became a therapy dog, and I’m no longer afraid of dogs. I was able to overcome it," she said.
"So ngayon kahit na anong aso na any size okay na ako."
