Erwan Heussaff on 'knee-jerk opinions' about vaccine brands: 'Don't be choosy. If you can get it, do it'

Erwan Heussaff said he is tired of reading "knee-jerk opinions" circulating social media about COVID-19 vaccines and urged the public to get vaccinated no matter the brand.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, Erwan said that he has finally been fully vaccinated with his second dose of Sinovac.

Although he ordered the Moderna vaccine months ago, Erwan said that he has yet to receive the shipment and decided to sign up for vaccination with the Makati local government under the A4 category.

"The way I see it, anyone getting vaccinated at this point, regardless of the brand, is privileged, so don't be choosy. If you can get it, do it," Erwan said.

"Some people have been waiting for months to receive one dose in the Philippines and some people here have to wait in line for hours (days?) for their shots," he added.

Erwan also expressed his frustration with some netizens online.

"When did everyone become a vaccine expert?" he said. "At the end of the day Sinovac is still an effective Covid-19 vaccine. Whether it's 50% or 95%, it's still something. Just because you're vaccinated does not mean you can go hugging strangers again."

"In any case, it looks like all vaccine brands are now discussing potential needs of booster shots with other vaccine brands, due to the new variants," he added. "Just goes to show that no vaccine has a 100% efficacy rate. Just like condoms, but you still use them, right?"

Aside from Erwan, many celebrities have been posting about their COVID-19 vaccination on social media to encourage the public to get their jabs.

Some netizens even said that their reluctant relatives have been convinced to get vaccinated thanks to Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera.
