2-year-old child born with small jaw receives aid from GMA Kapuso Foundation

A two-year-old child from Lanao del Sur is having a hard time learning how to walk and speak after being born with a small jaw.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Friday, Farhanah Bustamin gave birth to her daughter Farisha just after eight months of pregnancy.

The baby was only 1.3 kilograms when she was born. She has swollen eye sockets and her body is so thin because her condition makes eating a difficult task.

"It was checked via ultrasound, her brain is fine and everything is normal," Farhanah said in Filipino.

"Her pediatrician said in the beginning that she might not last three months," she added.

According to Dr. Joselyn Eusebio, a developmental and behavioral pediatrician, Farisha needs help to gain weight.

"She needs to undergo physical therapy so she could walk," she said. "Speech therapy could also help."

Farisha and nine other children with disability from Marantao, Lanao del Sur received strollers, playmats, and grocery packs from the GMA Kapuso Foundation in honor of National Disability Awareness Month.

Farisha will also be taken to Cagayan de Oro City so her condition can be  further examined by medical experts.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation is still accepting donations to help Farisha, who still needs vitamins and milk to gain strength.

Interested parties may extend financial help through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, and Pay Maya. Vouchers can also be bought from Shopee and Zalora.
