Nadine Samonte opens up about PCOS, APAS struggles while pregnant with 3rd child
Nadine Samonte recently opened up about her medical struggles while being pregnant with her third baby.
The actress shared a photo of her bruised belly and medications on Instagram, saying she was suffering from Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APAS).
Nadine said she and her husband Richard Chua almost “lost” their baby, but assured everybody that she was still “fighting.”
“Every day is a struggle but it’s more of a blessing. Feeling my tummy grow every day is what I’m thankful for,” she wrote.
“This journey is particularly different from my 2 kids. We almost lost our baby during my first trimester but with God’s grace and guidance hindi nya kami pinabayaan. God is good,” she added.
Nadine also shared an encouraging message for her fellow mommies struggling with APAS and PCOS.
“And more to come. Not complaining but hey I can say I’m one strong momma here fighting for my babies,” she wrote.
“Ang dami kong iniyak sa journey na to hehe pero I won’t give up EVER! I’ll fight and stay strong for them!!! Go APAS and PCOS mommas out there. Kaya natin ’to. Hello to our rainbow baby soon … Our last,” she added.
Nadine and Richard, who tied the knot in 2013, have two kids together named Heather and Titus.
The couple announced they were expecting their third child last month.
According to mayoclinic.com, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome or PCOS is a hormonal syndrome that can cause can cause pregnancy complications like miscarriage or premature birth.
Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome or APAS, on the other hand, is said to be “an autoimmune disorder [that] occurs when the body’s immune system makes abnormal antibodies that attack and damage tissues or cells.” – Margaret Claire Layug/RC, GMA News
