Amputees get prosthetic arms through GMA Kapuso Foundation, LN-4 Foundation

Twelve amputees have received prosthetic arms through a joint project of GMA Kapuso Foundation and LN-4 Foundation.

According to a “24 Oras” report on Thursday, the beneficiaries were residents from Cagayan, Isabela, Kalinga, and Tuguegarao City.

The prosthetic arms were brought by Naked Wolves Philippines, a group of riders who travel the around country to inform the public about the free aid.

“We want to spread in barangays and other remote secluded areas that amputees can be given prosthetic arms,” said Anthony Untalan of LN-4 Foundation.

LN-4 ambassador to the Philippines Grace Cabato said that with the project, more people were given the chance to live normally again and do things such as being able to hold utensils and ride motorcycles.

GMA Kapuso Foundation EVP and COO Rikki Escudero-Catibog said the project started in 2018 for soldiers injured in the Marawi siege and was later extended to civilians.

Catibog added that beneficiaries’ arms should be cut either above or below the elbow because the LN-4 prosthetics needed a stump to hold on to.

Prospective beneficiaries and donors may reach out to the GMA Kapuso Foundation website and Facebook page.

Amputees are requested to send a photo for the assessment of the compatibility of the mechanical arm.

They may also reach the foundation through e-mail gmaf@gmanetwork.com or contact numbers 89294299, 89289351 or 9827777 loc. 9904. – Franchesca Viernes/RC, GMA News
