Kakai Bautista slams ‘toxic’ culture of body shaming among Filipinos

Kakai Bautista has taken to social media to slam the “toxic” culture of body shaming among Filipinos.

On Wednesday, the comedian and actress shared a video of herself dancing to a TikTok trend.

“I have come across so many body shamers these past few days! And I just wanna say that I do believe that food is very much essential in our lives. I LOVE TO EAT. And pak all the toxic Filipino culture that says chubby is not sexy and healthy. Black, brown, morena, kayumanggi is not beautiful. Pakdizall,” she wrote.

Kakai said we could never appreciate other people’s beauty if we did not appreciate our own.

“Sorry kung ikakalungkot ng iba na mahal na mahal ko ang sarili ko (Sorry if it will sadden others that I love myself so much). And I am enjoying every bit of what I am now and every second of my life,” she said.

“Iksi ng buhay, ’wag mong pakialaman ang buhay ng iba. Pakialaman mo ’yung sayo. Gawin mong maganda, masaya, at kapaki-pakinabang!” she added with the hashtags “No To Body Shaming” and “Confidence Is Power.”
