Mimiyuuuh opens up about ‘homophobic’ relatives: ‘You don't need to prove anything to anybody’

A fan recently asked Mimiyuuuh how she deals with "toxic" family members, and she had some inspiring words for those like her who grew up with "homophobic" relatives.

The question came up during the Q&A portion of a YouTube vlog she posted last March 6.

“I just don’t deal with them, you know what I’m sayin'? No deal, bhie! No deal," Mimiyuuuh said.

On a more serious note, the vlogger, host and endorser opened up about some "homophobic" relatives who have started to treat her differently.

“I’m sure hindi naman po mawawa la yung mga homophobic nating tito, and guess what: Ngayon, nag-uunahan na po silang magpa-picture sa akin. Opo!" Mimiyuuuh said.

["Homophobic relatives will always be there but guess what? These days, they're scrambling for a photo with me!"]

"Guys, hindi ko 'yun ipinagmamayabang. In fact, sobrang sad," she added.

["I'm not proud of that fact. In fact, I find it sad."]

Mimiyuuh went on to say that she was "so done" with the culture of having to "be someone" to be accepted by homophobic people.

"Let me just say this to you: You don't need to prove anything to anybody,” the vlogger said.

"Do the things that will make you happy as long as wala kang tinatapakang tao and your intentions are good. If your family members won't accept you, there's a lot more people na makaka-appreciate sa'yo," she added.

"They say blood is thicker than water, but I think the relationship that you build with other people, kahit hindi mo kamag-anak, I think that's much thicker, you know what I'm sayin'?"

Mimiyuuuh is known for her viral YouTube and TikTok videos that showcase her relatable personality and feel-good content.

She has since attracted multiple endorsements, and is now the host of the Netflix social media series "Eh Di Ikaw Na." She also released a song amid the pandemic called "Drink Your Water B*tch." — Margaret Claire Layug/LA, GMA News
