Ladies, listen up. If you're menstruation comes with blood spotting, it may be a telltale sign of something more serious about your overall health.
In an episode of PinoyMD, OB-GYN Dr. Raul Quillamor said there are several factors on why women have blood spots during their period, saying it could be a sign of an underlying problem with the woman's health.
One of the common causes of blood spotting, is "primary ovarian failure" when a woman is at the menopausal stage or when she is nearing menopausal.
Another is "pelvic inflammatory disease" or when the woman has an infection in the uterus.
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hormonal imbalance can also cause blood spotting.
Dr. Quillamor said this can also happen when a woman has a medical problem such as diabetes or thyroid problem like goiter.
Lastly, it can also happen when a woman has an imbalance in estrogen and progesterone.
