Meryll Soriano acquired Gestational Diabetes during pregnancy at 38 years old. Here's what she did
Meryll Soriano took to Instagram to share her experience getting pregnant at 38 years old.
The actress said at her age her doctor told her that it's "risky and difficult."
"I had anxiety over this on the latter part of my pregnancy," Meryll shared.
On her 6-7 month of pregnancy, Meryll acquired Gestational Diabetes, "which meant 4x a day of glucose tests, 4 x a day of insulin shots and nth goodbyes to donuts, chocolates and cakes until I give birth."
According to WebMD, Gestational diabetes "is a condition in which your blood sugar levels become high during pregnancy."
"It affects up to 10% of women who are pregnant in the U.S. each year. It affects pregnant women who haven’t ever been diagnosed with diabetes," it added.
Meryll said due to this, she worked out four to five times a week, "healthy food intake and baby yoga as much as I could."
"It was hard work and it was difficult and tiring most of the time. But, again, my age is a factor. I did what was needed to be done," she added.
Having gone through it and having given birth to a healthy baby boy, the new mom is proud to "have a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery."
But Meryll couldn't have done it without her partner, actor Joem Bascon. Calling him "Dud," the actress said, "He helped me stay on track. He stopped buying Cloud 9 and HawHaw. He did pregnant workouts with me."
She adds, "there are no words to explain the taking-care-of-me part. He’s the best. Thank you so much, Dud."
Meryll said they are the happiest "to get to share this experience with our parents and family."
"Family is everything. And, to Kuya Eli, who has been secretly wishing for a brother since he was 10. Bless his heart," she added.
In the post, Meryll mentioned that she went through 10 hours of labor, of normal delivery.
She gave birth to a 7lb, and 20-inches baby boy.
On New Year's Day, Meryll posted a family photo of actor Joem Bascon, her 13-year-old son Elijah, and herself carrying a newborn on Instagram surprising the world with the announcement of their new baby.
Meryll has also posted photos of her baby with her dad Willie Revillame and her aunt Maricel Soriano.
Meryll is the daughter of Maricel's sister BecBec Soriano and "Wowowin" host Willie Revillame.
