Here's the difference between nummular eczema and psoriasis
If you have a skin problem, there's a possibility that it may be either be nummular eczema or psoriasis.
In an episode of "Pinoy MD," Saturday, dermatologist Dr. Jean Marquez received a photo from a mother and daughter suffering from a skin problem that appeared to be itchy spots on the skin.
These spots, which also appear to be bruising, can be considered as nummular eczema, said Dr. Jean.
Nummular eczema, Dr. Jean continued, is a form of allergy that's often hereditary.
Meanwhile, what can be seen as nummular eczema can also be considered as psoriasis, an incurable chronic disease characterized by red skin lesions appearing in different parts of the body.
Psoriasis isn't as itchy compared to nummular eczema and "usually may involvement ito ng nails and of course meron sa scalp," Dr. Jean said.
For the patient to be certain and to be treated properly, it is still best to consult a dermatologist first.
