Kapuso Foundation to open soup kitchen for Ulysses victims in Quezon City
GMA Kapuso Foundation will be distributing relief goods to some areas hit by the Typhoon Ulysses.
In an interview on News TV Live with Pia Arcangel, EVP &COO of GMA Kapuso Foundation RIkki Escudero-Catibog said they will open a soup kitchen or a feeding program to 1,000 individuals affected by the flood brought by Typhoon Ulysses.
"Magpapakain kami ng 1,000 individuals Diosdado Macapagal Elementary School kasi diyan ang evacuation center ng mga barangay at mga villages na malapit sa Barangay Tatalon Quezon City," she said.
Escudero-Catibog said they will also be distributing relief goods in the most affected barangays in Rodriguez, Rizal.
"Naghahanap kami ng mga lugar where we will distribute good for 2,000 families at naka-stand by din kami para dito sa Quezon," she said.
Escudero-Catibog said they couldn't move right away due to roads being inaccessible. She said they will seek from Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to get access into areas with high flood level and be able to distribute the goods.
Meanwhile, in Quezon, The GMAKF will be having help from Southern Luzon command of the AFP.
"Kasi kailangan natin yung mga malalaki nilang truck para makapasok sa inaccssible area," she said.
GMAKF has ongoing efforts for those affected by the previous Typhoon Rolly.
Escudero-Catibog said the GMA Kapuso foundation team is still in Catanduanes waiting for the Philippine coastguard to deliver relief goods for 3,000 families, which has been delayed due to Typhoon Ulysses.
Escudero-Catibog reassured that they will be having continuous relief efforts once they are safe and clear to go to these areas.
"Magtutuloy-tuloy tayo sa Catanduanes at kasabay sa Albay, CamSur, Sorsogon, sabay-sabay gagawin ng GMA Kapuso Foundation," she said.
"Makaka-asa kayo na nakahanda kami the moment na puwedeng bumiyahe," she added.
She said it will be their third wave of relief efforts for Albay and CamSur while Catanduanes will see a 2nd wave of relief efforts from GMAKF.
GMAKF is still calling for donations to help those who were affected by the recent typhoons in the country.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, the foundation is encouraging cash donations that will go straight to the foundation's "Operation Bayanihan Fund."

PAGASA on Thursday afternoon raised the yellow rainfall warning over Metro Manila, Tarlac, Pampanga, Zambales, Bataan, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas and Rizal due to heavy rains brought by Typhoon Ulysses.
