94-year-old lolo survives battle vs COVID-19
A 94-year-old man has beaten the odds after surviving a bout with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
According to Tina Panganiban-Perez' report on "24 Oras," Lolo Gregorio Dimaano recovered from the disease despite his advanced age and other co-morbidities.
He is the oldest COVID-19 survivor in the hospital where he is currently undergoing therapy.
"Nagulat po kami kasi 'yun nga syempre matanda na rin 'yung lolo ko, may ibang complications din. Buti naman po kinaya niya pa po," said his grandson Gregorio Meneses.
Four other family members tested positive for the virus, but they kept in touch every day through video call and regularly checked up on Lolo Gregorio's condition.
On August 25, they finally received the happy news: Lolo finally tested negative for COVID-19, nearly three weeks after he was hospitalized on August 7.
His family also said he seems to be doing better now compared to before his COVID-19 battle.
"Bago siya magka-COVID talagang hirap siyang kumilos. Talagang lagi siyang tulog, ayaw niya na talagang makipag usap," said his grandson. "Di sumusunod, tapos ayaw kumain even 'yung mga gamot na inaano sa kanya ng doktor ayaw niya i-take."
The therapy did wonders for Lolo Gregorio and his nurse said it's also thanks to his family's support.
"Never lose hope, just pray," said Nurse Beverly Francya. "'Wag po kayong panghinaan ng loob. Mas powerful pa rin po ang prayer above everything else." —MGP, GMA News
