Kris Bernal opens up on insecurities over 'ectomorph' body type

Kris Bernal has opened up on her insecurities over her body type in the first entry of her weekly workout vlog series, #KrisMadeMeDoIt.

Despite loving fitness and its benefits to her body, the Kapuso actress said it hasn't always been a perfect journey for her.

Kris was teary-eyed when she started talking about how people would criticize her because of having a small frame.

"Alam ninyo I am naturally thin, I'm naturally small, and may mga tao talagang nagba-bash sakin like sasabihin nila anorexic daw ako, too thin but in all honesty it's just my body type, it's my gene that I'm ectomorph," she said.

"So ectomorph are the body types that are the most resistant to gaining weight or gaining muscle because of our fast metabolism," she explained.

Kris had previously addressed bashers who have been calling her "anorexic, bulimic, no curves with tiny waste" telling her to "eat more and stop visiting the gym."

"May mga ganon akong insecurities na, 'Bakit ka ba nagwoworkout eh ang payat-payat mo na, hindi ka na mukhang healthy,'" she said.

She said some people could not understand that just because she's already thin, it doesn't mean she should no longer workout.

"Actually hindi ako sa aesthetics, hindi dahil may abs ka, hindi dahil sexy ka, may curves ka," she said. "I'm more on the health benefits. Hindi ako dun sa dapat perfect na perfect katawan mo."

According to Kris, she felt healthier and better ever since she got into the fitness lifestyle.

Kris reminded her subscribers that it's not about the number on the scale, "you're more than your weight, you're more than your body."

"This is my body type at na embrace ko na siya and minahal ko na 'yung flaws ko na ganon," she said. "I hope ganon din sa inyo Sheezums—kung big-boned kayo or tabain kayo, just embrace your flaws and work on it if you want to." —Jannielyn Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
