Here’s how to take care of your mental health according to Tonipet Gaba

“New Normal: Survival Guide” host Tonipet Gaba has shared his own ways of taking care of his mental health amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

During an interview with #RealTalk, he said, “kahit anong mangyari, more than anything, ang labanan nito is your mental health and physical well-being.”

Tonipet shared that he personally experienced a lot of changes in his life when the pandemic hit the country.

“Hindi siya isang snap madali, OK na agad,” he said. “Ang hirap, lahat tayo nabigla. Hindi tayo handa, parang suddenly we were uprooted.”

To keep our mental health in check, his advice was: “Learn to tune out. One day at a time. One step at a time.”

“Kasi kung i-aabsorb mo lahat, i-invite mo lahat, mawawalan ka ng footing. You’ll just spin off your axis,” he said. “You’d be riddled with anxiety.”

Despite everything, Tonipet shared that he felt grateful for his family because they’re the ones who keep him rooted.

Tonipet, along with Rovilson Fernandez, is set to host “Home Work” for the new GMA-7 series “New Normal: Survival Guide” which aims to help Filipinos cope amid the pandemic.

The new show will start airing on July 20, with Drew Arellano, Winnie Monsod, Tonipet, Rovilson, Kara David, and Susan Enriquez hosting different days of the week and featuring different aspects of quarantine life. – Kaela Malig/RC, GMA News
