Two months after she was featured in KMJS, how is the malnourished 11-year-old girl from Samar now?
It has been two months since 11-year-old Lhixie was featured on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho. How is she doing now?
Samar was one of the places hit by the recent Typhoon Ambo, Lhixie and her family are thankful they were able to evacuate early.
But they are most especially thankful for the help they’ve received after people learned about their story.
Lhixie now weighs 15 or 16 kilos. Two months ago, she weighed eight or nine kilos.
Lourdes said her daughter can move around a bit more compared to before and she can now happily play with her siblings.
[‘She can now move around. She’s always smiling and laughing. She can now play with her siblings.’]
Lourdes used to struggle earning P10 so she could feed Lhixie a sachet of milk and keep her alive. But now, Lourdes can afford to buy the right kind of milk for her child.
[‘We didn’t even have P10 to buy her milk before. She also needed vitamins that we couldn’t afford.’]
With all the help they received, Lourdes said they were also able to build a home for their family.
Despite all the help their family has been receiving, Lourdes knows they can't depend on other people for the rest of their lives.
And so she has been saving money to start her own business to make a living for her family.
From all the hardship she has been through, Lourdes said she learned the importance of humility.
Marami po sana ang matulungan ninyo," Lourdes said.
[‘We are very grateful to everybody who helped us. May God shower you with blessings. Thank you.’]
