#PINNED: Self-care and wellness activities to try this quarantine

#Pinned makes it easier for young Filipinos to discover meaningful and enriching content and stories that will help them separate music from the noise, wheat from the chaff, and flowers from the weeds.
All our stories are written by young creatives who made it their life mission to know everything there is to know about how fellow young adults can make the most out of their limited down time every day, every week.
Cliche as it may sound to say “health is wealth,” we do know it is true, especially now that we’re trying our best to curb the curve of the global COVID-19 pandemic. Sentiments online have mostly been trying to stop the virus from spreading, but amidst all that noise, we want to genuinely ask: how are you?
It couldn’t have been easy to navigate this new norm. Even celebrities admit to feeling disheartened by everyday life now. But, as what has always prevailed, we humans have a good tendency to rise from the ashes (and sometimes we do that literally, too). So dust the very valid worries you have and dive straight into these activities that will help you take care of you.
Follow a workout video on YouTube
It is no secret that physical activity, even those light ones, releases endorphins that make people feel happy. Try watching exercise videos at home and see if they’re fit for you. What’s good about this is you have the liberty to choose what activity you want. Something for the abs? Today is a leg day? Want to cop a celeb’s bod? You just want to dance? YouTube has an excellent library of workout videos that fit your needs. Here are some we recommend:
Have a "feel-good" day

And no, this doesn’t mean drown your sorrows in a hot tub and drink wine as you bask in the atmosphere of scented candles (although we won’t rule that out, TBH). This means find something you enjoy doing and do exactly that. Read a book all day. Stay away from the news and social media. Watch that movie you’ve seen a dozen times but still make your heart flutter. No judgments here.
Eat healthy food

The crisis has proven to only increase cravings for restaurant food, especially fast food. And while you can have some of your faves delivered, why not ditch the junk and eat healthy food for a change?
A healthy gut makes for a healthy outlook in life, so choose what you put inside your body. This way, you give off more positivity to the outside world.
Have (safe!) enjoyable sex

With all the roughhousing supposedly attributed to making love, it’s actually kind of surprising to see that it reduces stress levels and anxiety…
Oh who are we kidding? OF COURSE WE KNEW THAT! Sex reduces stress levels, even on very stress-inducing situations. So yeah! Here’s an excuse to give bae that “come hither” look tonight. *wink*
Note: Of course this goes without saying but please, have the sense to practice safe sex—and in this time, that also means staying at home. No going around looking for some lovin’, obviously.
Check your mental health

Some of us are stuck at home literally alone. Some may be home with family but still feel alone. Some couldn’t sleep. Some have panic attacks. People around the world are growing more and more concerned about their mental health—and so should we.
Check your mental health status everyday. Note how you’re feeling. Share your emotions to a friend if you need to. Do whatever it takes to prioritize your mental health, because a healthy body and a healthy mind is exactly what we need to get through this. That and concrete government plans of action.
Whether you think you’re healthy or suffering from pre-existing conditions, it will never hurt to look out for yourself once in a while. Make the most out of your extra time and all will be better before you even know it.
