Diocese of Sorsogon provides free bread in the province amid quarantine
As part of their "Bread of Life: Bishop's Bread Project," the Diocese of Sorsogon is giving away free bread in the province amid the enhanced community quarantine.
A Facebook post by Caritas Sorsogon, a welfare arm of the Diocese, showed photos of freshly baked bread being distributed to houses and people in Sorsogon.
In the caption, they thanked parishes and proprietors who partnered with them to continue their "mission in feeding the flocks of Jesus in the spirit of service, sharing and love."
According to Caritas, this project has been intensified to alleviate hunger amid the ECQ due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
Initiated by Bishop Jose Alan Dialogo, the "Bread of Life: Bishop's Bread Project" has been implemented in 18 parishes and has partnered with 42 bakeries all over Sorsogon.
On his Facebook page, Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero thanked Bishop Alan"for teaching me how to make malunggay pan de sal!"
More and more citizens are looking for ways to help others. On Sunday, a pizza delivery guy went viral when the netizens learned that he has been saving the tips he receives from his job to buy bread which he later distributes to people in the streets.
President Rodrigo Duterte placed the whole Luzon under enhanced community quarantine on March 17. It has been extended to last until April 30.
