'Pen Pineapple Apple Pen' singer promotes handwashing in new video
"Pen Pineapple Apple Pen" singer Pikotaro is back with a new song, but this time, it's all about keeping our hands clean amid the threat of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In his new video released on Saturday, the Japanese singer replaced the lyrics to his hit song to promote washing our hands with soap.
In the caption, he wrote, "From Pikotaro to the whole world, I made this in a hurry for Smile and Safe hands! Wash it! Smile! Protect it! Come on, people, let's wash! Wash! Wash!"
Wearing the same tiger print costume he wore in the "Pen Pineapple Apple Pen" video, Pikotaro also said that with two clean hands, we can "pray for people and peace."
As of writing, his new video has garnered over 3.2 million views.
Over 1.3 million COVID-19 cases have been officially recorded around the world, with 73,139 deaths as of Tuesday. --Kaela Malig/MGP, GMA News
