La Salle Green Hills provides temporary shelter for The Medical City frontliners

La Salle Green Hills (LSGH) has opened its doors to frontliners from The Medical City (TMC) amid the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Under the "Safe Shelter Project," LSGH provided 100 healthcare workers with makeshift sleeping areas, access to clean bathrooms, and internet connection.

On Facebook, The Medical City thanked LSGH and shared photos of the shelter for the healthcare workers.

"Truly, these challenging times have brought about an increased sense of humanity, community, and compassion," TMC said.

LSGH said the project is its way of thanking the medical workers for "the sacrifices that they and their families have made to protect people’s health, aid the afflicted, and help halt the spread of the coronavirus."

Meals are also provided with the help of De La Salle Philippines, LSGH Alumni Association, and La Salle Parents' Association.

In return, TMC will be installing disinfection areas to their entrances and follow regular decontamination measures to ensure safety of everyone inside the premises.

Several churches and convents in Metro Manila have also welcomed medical frontliners who are battling COVID-19.

As of Monday, the number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines rose to 3,660 with 163 deaths and 73 recoveries. --Jannielyn Bigtas/MGP, GMA News
