Vicky Morales shares nine tips on how to survive your lowest point in life

"Ilaban Natin 'Yan!" host Vicky Morales shared nine valuable tips on how to survive one's lowest point.

The "Ate ng Bayan" gave helpful advice in a "Real Talk" video by GMA Public Affairs, which recently reached a milestone after hitting nine million subscribers on YouTube.

1. Let it out

When things get rough, it's okay to express your emotions and cry.

Vicky shared that she would sometimes cry and think about the problem when she was going through a difficult time.

"After that, take control na ako sa kung ano man ang pinagdadaanan ko."

2. Believe that things happen for a reason

On dealing with heartbreak, the veteran journalist said that she was the type of person who found it easier to move on.

"Kasi ako namang type ng tao kung nangyari iyan, it happens for a reason. Baka may better in store for me."

3. Be open to new experiences

After bidding goodbye to "Wish Ko Lang!" which she has hosted for 16 years, the former "Fairy Godmother ng Bayan" admitted to feeling sad.

"Siyempre, nalungkot ako doon kasi it's a show, a very beautiful show that Filipinos have come to love."

But she added that she was excited for her new show, "Ilaban Natin 'Yan!" which had a completely different format compared to her previous shows.

4. Value yourself

Vicky's advice to those who could not leave abusive relationships is to "wisen up" and "value themselves."

"Value yourself. If you don't value yourself, no one else will."

"Kung binigay mo na lahat ng chances sa taong iyon and you still find yourself in an abusive relationship, then wisen up," she said.

5. Open up to someone

The GMA News pillar has timely advice for people experiencing anxiety, depression and other mental health issues: "It's always important to talk to someone who can help you professionally."

She added that it is a must to seek professional help because some of the mental health-related conditions could be treated with proper medications.

6. Don't forget to check in on your friends

For Vicky, it is important to check on one's friends who may be experiencing mental health-related problems.

"Ayain natin. [Tell them], "Halika, let's eat out." Kahit busy tayo... just assure them that they have an open line to talk to you whenever," she advised.

7. Allow yourself and others to grieve

For the former "Wish Ko Lang" host, there was no way anyone could ever prepare themselves for something as painful as losing a loved one.

She said that people experiencing this should be given space, and be allowed to grieve.

8. If you fail, pick yourself back up

On failure, she said that it should always be seen as a learning experience.

"You only learn when you fail. You cannot learn from being perfect all the time."

According to Vicky, even the most successful people in the world failed many times and committed big blunders.

"If you fail, you pick yourself up. Learn from your mistakes. Just don't make the same mistakes over and over again."

9. Look for solutions

"Hindi bubuti 'yung buhay natin kung wala tayong ginagawang solusyon," she said.

Vicky said that it's okay to cry over something, but one should refrain from sulking over it.

For her, it is important to move on, and keep looking for solutions. —Angelica Y. Yang/MGP, GMA News
