Mikee Quintos on losing weight and working out: ‘It should always be for yourself and not for anybody else’


Mikee Quintos stunned Instagram Wednesday when she posted a photo of herself in a two-piece bikini. While many netizens commented on her eye-poppin’ beach bod, Mikee says it was all hard work.

She hit the gym as soon as the holidays were over and in six weeks has already lost almost 10 lbs.

According to Mikee, it was all hard work. She would hit the gym two to three times a week, try different diets like keto, and at one point, even dabbled in intermittent fasting.

“Trying to be healthy, trying to work out, and trying to lose weight [should] always be for yourself and not  for anyone else. ‘Yon ‘yong mas effective for me,” Mikee tells GMA News Online.

According to Mikee, she’s always been in the receiving end of negative comments, like “ang taba mo.” But they never became a motivation for the Kapuso actress.

“Some people say nagwo-work sa kanila ‘yong pag nilalait sila, but hindi ‘yon effective sa akin,” Mikee continued, saying she tried making those nasty comments a motivation “pero mas lalo akong nawawalan ng pakialam. Bakit ba, eh katawan ko ‘to.”

According to Mikee, a healthy and positive mindset is also key to her fitness journey. “If you look for inspiration in the negative, it’s always going to be short-term. You have to want it enough. Everything else will follow.” — LA, GMA News
