2 Chinese nationals distribute free masks in Makati
Two Chinese nationals were spotted distributing free face masks along Ayala Avenue in Makati City on Friday amid the spread of the novel coronavirus or nCoV.
When Makati resident Precious Ann Patiño saw them, she took a photo of the scene and shared it on Facebook.
Some Chinese tourists reported experiencing prejudice in different countries as the outbreak originated in Wuhan, China.
"Tanggapin n'yo na lang po 'yung offer nila na mask sa ganyang paraan na lang sila makakabawi sa mga sama ng loob sa kanila at para makatulong na din sila," Patiño said.
Patiño urged everyone to help each other instead of getting angry with others.
"At the end they're still humans just like everyone of us they're afraid to be discriminated. Hindi porket Chinese eh, same2 na, takot din sila s NCoV and may pamilya din sila n pnprotektahan just like us," one of the commenters said.
The Philippines confirmed its first coronavirus case on Thursday. On Friday, the World Health Organization declared the virus outbreak a global emergency. —MGP, GMA News
