Nutritionist dispels misconception about diets
Just because a certain diet or eating pattern works for someone, it doesn't mean that it would work for everyone, according to nutritionist-dietician Salina Teo.
"I think one of the biggest misconception, generally sa nutrition, is the misconception of the 'one-diet-fits-all'. It doesn't mean na [if] it works for me, it would work for you. All diets are a case-to-case basis, and it is individualized," Teo said, in an interview with Bernadette Reyes on GMA News TV's State of the Nation on Friday.
A popular trending diet that seems to work for some netizens is the Low Carb Intermittent Fasting (LCIF).
"Sa LCIF, particularly sa community namin, we say na, 'Eat until full of the right foods, which is meat, egg and seafood,'" said Dave Aguila, founder of LCIF Association.
As an advocate, Aguila is known in his community for posting videos detailing the LCIF method.
"This is our way of eating. It's not something na pampapayat...It's just a side effect of doing the diet. It just so happened na kung ginawa mo ang diet at galing ka sa obesity, galing ka sa pagiging overweight, you tend to slim down," he explained.
Aside from eating the proper and right amount of food, regular exercise is also important in staying healthy. —Angelica Yang/KG, GMA News
