Carla Abellana reveals reason behind medical emergency in Osaka
Carla Abellana has revealed the reason behind her medical emergency during their holiday trip to Osaka, Japan last December.
In her latest vlog, the Kapuso actress said she and boyfriend Tom Rodriguez went to three different hospitals in Osaka due to Carla's unbearable knee pain.
"'Di na ako makalakad sa sakit ng tuhod ko for the first time ever," she said in the video.
Carla said she could already feel her face and shoulders swollen.
She shared they first went to the National Hospital Organization Osaka but the doctors admitted they cannot help Carla with her situation.
She was then sent to another clinic but turned out to be an orthopedic clinic and there were no interpreters available.
Finally, they were able to get help in Ohno Emergency Hospital.
In the comments of one of her Instagram posts, Carla said she was diagnosed with asthma, tachycardia, hypothyroidism and liver damage.
According to UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute, tachycardia is defined as an "abnormally rapid heart rate at rest or where the heart beats over 100 times per minute."
Meanwhile, the American Thyroid Association said hypothyroidism is "an underactive thyroid gland" which means that "the thyroid gland can't make enough thyroid hormone to keep the body running normally."
"People are hypothyroid if they have too little thyroid hormone in the blood," ATA added. —JST, GMA News
