This year, environment is the focus of Hands On Manila’s Servathon
It’s about time that the environment is on top of everybody’s agenda.
This year, Hands On Manila, a non-profit organization promoting volunteerism in the Philippines, is partnering with the World Wildlife Fund and the Asian Social Institute, to put the environment front and center for its Servathon.
Held at the PICC, Servathon features a full morning of volunteer work. And because this year’s theme is on the environment, volunteers will work on three main projects: creating Mabuhay Balls, making soil booster mixes, and packing environmental information kits to be distributed to teachers and students at local schools.
Mabuhay Balls are derived from Japan’s Bokashi Ball Technology, which preserves vitality of fish and helps rehabilitate polluted bodies of water.
Soil booster mixes meanwhile helps in enriching soil, apart from composting.
The Environmental information pack meanwhile features interactive books and environmental teaching materials that will be distributed by the WWF to teachers and students at local schools.
Servathon is happening on September 28, at 8am in the PICC. — LA, GMA News
