Mel Tiangco reveals the first thing she'll do after she retires

One would think Kapuso news anchor Mel Tiangco would want to slow down, take her time, and maybe rest on her laurels; she's earned it after all.

But such idea couldn't be farthest from her mind. Tiangco just renewed her contract with the network on Wednesday, January 31.

The "24 Oras" anchor, who is also the GMA Kapuso Foundation founder and ambassador, said she's not thinking of retiring just yet, as she believes that when the time comes, it will be revealed to her from above.

"When I retire, alam mo, I truly believe in faith created by God and destiny given to you by the Lord. I will wait for the time, and I will see what He tells me. Planning now, yeah, there is such a thing as planning. Right now I'm not planning because I just signed my contracts so may time pa ako," Tita Mel said.

Tita Mel, however, already has an idea of what to do with life once she's done working.

"I want to spoil myself. Sabi nga nila, I want to enjoy what I have worked for all of these decades in media."

The broadcaster revealed she sacrificed a lot with regards to herself and her family, and Tita Mel said she would like to catch up and spend time with them.

"Marami akong sinakripisyo when I was working, when I was active. Ang dami kong sinakripisyo for me and my family. 'Pag nag-retire ako, 'yun ang babalikan ko. Family and things that I didn't do for myself because of my work."

But the first thing she'll do when she retires? Deep clean her house.

"Naku alam mo, matatawa ka sa akin 'pag sinabi ko sa 'yo. The first thing I will do is to do a general cleaning of my house. Kasi nu'ng panahon ng nagtatrabaho ka pa naiiwan mo 'yan sa mga helpers mo sa bahay eh. But you know I'm the kind of, mahilig akong maglinis, I want everything in order. I want everything organized. I'll do that! That's the first thing I will do, is to clean my own house."

But in the mean time, there's still a lot of news to report. Catch Tita Mel Tiangco at "24 Oras" and GMA anthology series "Magpakailanman." — LA, GMA News
