The Royal Family speaks out to support mental health awareness campaign
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton, together with Prince Harry, got together to spearhead the new campaign “Heads Together,” an initiative by seven United Kingdom-based mental health non-profit organizations which aims to break down the stigma surrounding mental health issues and promote awareness and discussions.
Sporting bright blue headbands, the members of The Royal Family showed their support to the campaign, which had the privilege of being the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year.
In a promotional video, they voiced out their concern about the quiet crisis that is the issue on mental illness, which affects millions of people around the world.
“Mental Health is just as important as physical health,” said the Duchess of Cambridge.
Prince Harry added, “We can all play our parts by talking and listening to each other.
The Duke of Cambridge ended with the note: “Let's get our heads together and change the conversation on mental health.”
According to a spokesperson for William, Kate, and Harry in a statement to Us Weekly, “Through their work with young people, emergency response, homeless charities, and with veterans, Their Royal Highnesses have seen time and time again that unresolved mental health problems lie at the heart of some of our greatest social challenges."
Among the charities behind “Heads Together” are parenting-centered charity “Best Beginnings,” suicide prevention charity “Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM),” collaborative mental health support group for Service personnel, ex-Service personnel and their family “Contact,” mental health service provider “Mind,” in-school support group “Place2Be,” multi-issue support group and counselling service provider “The Mix,” and children's mental health charity “YoungMinds.” — RSJ, GMA News
