Bellini's Caffe issues apology for 'Wag Tularan' Halloween display
Bellini’s Caffe has issued a statement after receiving backlash online for one of its Halloween decorations.
Netizens criticized the display that mimicked a dead body covered in black plastic and had the sign “Wag Tularan.”
“Sana tanggalin nila yung display na 'to, lalo na at yung silingan cafe, which is run by the families of [extra-judicial killings] victims, ay nasa expo lang din,” a user said.
On Instagram, Bellini's responded with a statement, saying that the management was not informed of the decoration, and they usually go for typical designs like cobwebs, bats, spiders, and an additional banner.
“But apparently our staff was excited about participating in the decorations because it had become a contest. We have investigated and some of our employees have admitted to the matter. And we will further look into this as soon as possible,” they said.
“We sincerely apologize for what happened and we deeply regret not checking up on the store decoration ourselves before it was displayed. Rest assured that we take this matter very seriously and we understand that this has caused distress. We value your feedback and are committed to ensuring our designs reflect the respect and sensitivity our community deserves.”
They thanked social media users and promised they are reviewing their processes “to prevent this from happening again.”
