'Lumpia Queen' Abi Marquez on Webby Awards recognition: ‘This is our win’

Abi Marquez, famously known as “Lumpia Queen” on TikTok, received her award at the 28th Annual Webby Awards.

On social media, the food content creator shared some snaps from the awarding ceremony held on Tuesday at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City, United States.

“First Filipino from the Philippines to win The Webby Award, because of you!” Abi began in her post.

“This is a celebration of Filipino food, talent, and the hardwork of so many people. Grateful beyond words for the chance to fly to New York, represent our country, and cherish this moment as a core memory. THIS IS OUR WIN," she added.

In her winning speech, the food creator simply said, “Philippines, this is for you.”

Marquez was named the People’s Voice Winner in the General Social: Food & Drink Category of the awards organization.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for Abi. This May, it was announced that the Filipina content creator was among the nominees in the prestigious James Beard 2024 Media Awards under the social media account category.

With over 3.3 million followers on TikTok, Abi is one of the leading food content creators in the country. One of her most famous videos is a Jollibee-inspired peach mango pie created with lumpia wrapper.

Established in 1996 and presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, The Webby Awards honors excellence in nine major media types: Websites and Mobile Sites; Video; Advertising; Media & PR; Apps & Software; Social; Podcasts; Games; and AI, Metaverse & Virtual.
