Fire hits Onlypans Taqueria, other tenants in Poblacion
Onlypans Taqueria was among the affected establishments in the fire that broke out in Vine Building on Don Pedro Street in Poblacion, Makati City, on Thursday evening, May 2.
According to an Instagram Story by the pandemic-born Mexican restaurant, the accidental fire began on the roof of the building and affected all the tenants therein, including other establishments like Virtue and Vice, NEO Cafe and Bar, Sulok Bar, and Mahalo Acai.
Onlypans has appealed to the public to avoid spreading misinformation about the incident, adding efforts by the Bureau of Fire Protection to uncover the root cause of the fire are underway.
While all operations in the building are at an indefinite halt, the restaurant assured patrons it'll recover from what happened.
"We’re resilient, and together, we can weather this storm," Onlypans said.T"he flames may have scorched our building, but they haven’t touched our spirit. We’re going to bounce back from this stronger than ever before."
No casualties have been reported from the incident.
In another Instagram Story, the restaurant shared that their space wasn't razed by the fire, although its glass doors were broken by firefighters as protocol.
With its Poblacion branch closed, Onlypans has asked patrons to support its Katipunan and La Union branches to help in recovering losses.
Sulok Bar and Mahalo Acai have also released updates via their Instagram pages today.
According to Sulok's Instagram Stories, the fire on the fifth and sixth floors was fully contained, and that the bar will return once tenants get the all-clear.
"While the operations may be temporarily affected, we are still here for you and our community. We will not let this incident take more of our energy," said Sulok. "With your comforting messages and support, we are encouraged to stay true to our commitment for our patrons. We are more than this incident, and we are grateful for you."
