Steak with rice or fries? At this steakhouse, you can have both
The premise is simple: choose among three different types of beef, choose your cooking preference, then pick your sauce, and you're done. No fuss.
Let's be honest: Having a meal at a bougie steakhouse is quite intimidating, which is why Steak & Frice, a newly opened steakhouse in Bonifacio Global City, wants its guests to enjoy a good quality steak in a relaxed atmosphere.
Helmed by Amado Forés, whose portfolio includes A MANO and Ramen Ron, Steak & Frice honors the traditions of a good quality steak in the form of striploin, ribeye, or tenderloin, but with a unique twist: enjoy it with a side of both fries and rice.
"The idea for Steak & Frice was born during one of my first visits to New York," Amado said in a press release. "I saw my family sneak steamed rice into the Brooklyn institution, Peter Luger."
"That ingrained the idea that steakhouses really should have rice on their menus," he added.
According to Amado, all the steakhouses he has visited and tried follow the same format: "jazz music, leather booths, Bordeaux, single malts."
It's where "business is done, and deals are celebrated" and for Margarita Fores' son, it shouldn't just be like that. A good serving of steak should not be limited to celebrations.
"Steak & Frice is not a once-a-year thing. We're not just for special occasions. We are an everyday dining place," he said. "Everyone, for every occasion, is welcome."
The interior of the new dining destination combines the iconic ambiences of Parisian and New York steakhouses, all while adding London's charm. Steak & Frice's bespoke seating and American red oak tables pay homage to iconic steakhouses, while traditional butcher blocks inspire the flooring reimagined as a mosaic of Ifugao weaving. Overall, it's an unparalleled dining atmosphere unique to the Philippines.
A serving of Steak & Frice's The Main Event begins at P3,550 for Striploin (350g). It comes with irresistible crunchy french fries, steak fried rice, and sauce on the side.
For the sauce selection, you may choose among peppercorn, Béarnaise, chimichurri, Steak & Frice sauce, mushroom gravy, and Romesco.
If you need more than one serving of fries and rice, each order comes with a complimentary refill. For the sauce, you can get another serving for P100.
The menu also includes other crowd favorite's appetizers and side dishes, as well as pescetarian and vegetarian options, including Bacon Steak Caesar Salad (P690), Grilled Salmon (P1,100), Chicken Confit (P810), Onion Flower & Dad's Basketball Sauce (P430), and Cauli-steak (P990).
Steak & Frice just opened but already, it is buzzing. Marjorie Barretto and her girls had their "grown-up dinner" there a few months ago, while English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran got to dine there last week, when he was in town for his sold-out concert.
