A Yakult cafe just opened in Japan

Yakult fans and lovers, a cafe and gallery featuring your favorite lactobacilli shirota strain drink has opened in Japan, in the Tochigi prefecture north of Tokyo, to be a little be more specific. 

On its Instagram account, Yakult cafe said its original menu features "passionately inspired drip coffee, espresso-based arrangement coffees, and Yakult products" as well as "bagel eggs, curry rice, and sweets."

The piece de resistance however is the popular "Ice de Yakult" or simply Yakult Ice Cream. Yakult Cafe boasts it is the only place where people can enjoy the Yakult Ice Cream in a physical store.

It is the first of its kind, it said, and with a salon that uses products made with lactic acid bacteria on the second floor, you could say it is also one-of-a-kind.

According to its IG account, the second floor of the Yakult Cafe hosts a salon, where Yakult cosmetics are also sold. The Straits Times reports the salon will also "offer facials using cosmetics made with lactic acid bacteria."

"Dubbed as a wellness centre, the premises were built to introduce Yakult products to new customers and features a daycare centre for employees of Yakult," it adds.

 

 

The Cafe also has a dedicated gallery space with big table seating, a bar seating that looks out the window, and plush sofas. They plan to rent it out for galleries, workshops, and the like.

Quoting Japanese paper The Mainichi, The Straits Times reported Yakult president Keizo Shibata as saying: “We hope that people who don’t know about Yakult come visit and see themselves in various ways enjoying Yakult products, including meals and beauty services.”

The Yakult Cafe opened on September 20. It is planning to open a second branch soon.
