Philippines' Toyo Eatery, Metiz are among Asia's 50 Best Restaurants this year

Two restaurants in the Philippines have landed in Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants List for 2023.
Toyo Eatery in Manila returns to the list at no. 42, after making its debut in 2019. Moreover, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants named it "The Best Restaurant in the Philippines" this year!
In 2018, the prestigious London-based awards body named Toyo Eatery as "The One to Watch."
Toyo Eatery is run by husband-and-wife team Jordy and May Navarra. They serve Filipino food and prioritize local produce and farmers.
Meanwhile, Metiz, located in Makati, was also honored. It's at no. 48 in the list.
Half-Filipino, half-French chef Stephan Duhesme opened Metiz's doors to the public in 2019. Taking its name from "mestizo," the restaurant mixes all things Filipino with various influences.
The awarding for Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants took place at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore.
Bangkok's Le Du topped the list, followed by Tokyo's Sezanne at no. 2, and another restaurant from Bangkok, Nusara, at no. 3.
