From Australia, with love: 5 pastries this celebrity chef is bringing home to the Philippines


Without a doubt, Chef Miko Aspiras is one of the most celebrated pastry chefs in Asia and Australia.

From starting as a Commis Chef for Shangri-La Manila to holding executive pastry chef positions at Hilton Sydney and Ovolo Hotel Sydney, Chef Aspiras' exemplary culinary skills have been proven time and time again, with several accolades tucked under his belt, including Highest Gold Medal in Hong Kong Food Exposition in 2011 and Forbes' 30 Under 30 in 2018.

Just recently, the 33-year-old Australia-based pastry chef came home to the Philippines to embark on a new journey that will surely add a sweet flair to his colorful career.

Visum Ventures, led by president and CEO John Michael "Mike" Hilton, the local F&B group who brought us Koomi, Salt & Ice, Oh My Greek, and Zig, among others, just welcomed Chef Aspiras as its newest executive pastry chef partner.

Chef Aspiras will curate desserts for all existing Visum Ventures brands and introduce new concepts opening soon.

"We are delighted to welcome Chef Miko to our team. He is undoubtedly a culinary rockstar, making a name for himself here and in Australia, where he is currently based," Mike said during a media night held on Thursday at Salt & Ice.

For the drool-worth part, Chef Aspiras presents five pastries he's about to introduce to the Philippine market through Visum Ventures.
