There's an aesthetic Japanese-Peruvian resto to visit for a fun, fulfilling time in Poblacion

Poblacion is home to people and places that are always up for a good time. But more than anything, it is also where those looking for a unique and fulfilling gastronomic experience abound.

At the corner of Don Pedro and Jacobo, there lies a Japanese-Peruvian restaurant called Japonesa that is not just a treat to one's visuals, but also very much a goodie for the foodie.

Coming to life through Notorious Concepts, the brains behind Alamat and West 32, Japonesa has grown to be a unique dining and night out spot for those searching for good food and cocktails.

In an interview with GMA News Online, Head Chef Luis Higa said he made sure that every dish and drink complements one another and will leave anyone wanting to stay and savor the experience.

Notorious Concepts' CEO James Thomas added that they've spent months making their menu, which consists of ceviches, tapas, sushi, sashimi, maki, and signature dishes, among many others.

The mix of Peruvian and Japanese may come as a bit of a weird bit for some but we assure you that the two actually work—exceptional at that, even.

"Seeing how Japanese cuisine was more common than Preuvian, we had to find a way to introduce the local market to these relatively new flavors in an exciting yet approachable way," Thomas said.

Apart from every dish being carefully designed to feed one's eyes and cameras, each bite will take one to a place that immediately lets you get the best of both cuisines.

According to Higa, everything is authentic. Even all the ingredients used for the cocktails are Japanese and Peruvian.

Located in Poblacion where nightlife is very much alive, Japonesa offers a night of dance and music with the help of DJs that Notorious Concepts works with closely for a perfect night.

"We have guests that come here at 8 p.m. on a Friday night and don't leave 'til 2 a.m. 'cause they’re drinking and dancing the night away after their meal," Thomas said.

With a seating capacity of 82 and a cozy atmosphere provided by the people and interiors consisting of warm colors and lighting, Japonesa is a great place to just dine and bond with your loved ones.
