You can have this Pastil for as low as P25 in Taguig!

If you're a "budgetarian" who is in constant search of filling meals without breaking the bank, then you should keep an eye on this stall in Taguig. It sells "Pastil" for as low as P25.

Pastil, also known as Pastel, is a Filipino meal wrapped in a banana leaf. It consists of steamed rice paired with different viands like shredded beef, fish, or chicken.

In the "This is Eat" segment of "Unang Hirit," Eat Girl Love Anover went to Pastil King to learn how to make a common Pastil topping, which is Spicy Chicken "Kagikit."

Pastil King owner Sarifoddin Sarip guided Love on cooking "Kagikit." The recipe and ingredients are very straightforward. All you need are garlic, onions, ginger, soy sauce, vinegar, shredded chicken breast, chili, and cooking oil.

First, you have to fry the garlic, onion, and ginger. Once those are fairly sauteed, add the shredded chicken and mix until the meat turns golden brown before flavoring it with soy sauce, vinegar, and chili.

According to Sarifoddin, cooking time usually lasts three to four hours, depending on how much he has to prepare for the day.

To have a complete "Pastil" experience, you can directly eat your meal straight from the banana leaf wrap, just like how they do it in Mindanao, where Pastil originated. — LA, GMA News
