This QC bakeshop offers Saturday brunch with an explosive drag show and we're all for it

Savory Saturday brunch with a world-class drag show? Count us in!

Welcome to Butterboy in Quezon City, a bakeshop that offers exquisite croissants. Every Saturday morning, it has on offer Drag Saturdays.

For P800 a pop, you get the brunch set (your drink of choice, a mini croissant tea set) and an exclusive viewing of some of Manila’s most celebrated “drag kweens.”

In an epiode of "Dapat Alam Mo!" One of Butterboy’s guest drag performers, Naia, said doing drag shows boosts her confidence—and doing it in the morning is a whole new level of adrenaline!"

“Noong in-invite ako ng Butterboy to perform a morning drag, sabi ko, ‘wait lang, seryoso kayo? Sa morning talaga natin ‘to gagawin? Sige, gawin natin ‘to,” Naia said with a laugh.

Butterboy owner and head baker Hildebrand Demetrio, who is admittedly a fan of drag culture, said that launching their Drag Saturday offerings is their way of uplifting the local drag community.

“Gusto namin i-support yung local queens namin, pinag-host muna namin sila ng drag brunch until eventually, sila na ‘yung naging highlight,” Hildebrand said.

Some drag queens you may catch at Butterboy are Abigal Montgomery, Eva Le Queen, and Naia.

Butterboy started as a passion project of a gay couple in pursuit of good food during their date nights. Fast forward to today, they find themselves having fun baking croissants and other pastries, which motivated them to open a bakeshop and sell their pastries at an affordable price.

Butterboy sells its classic croissant for as low as P59 to P80. Some of its bestsellers include Pain Au Chocolat (P69.50) and Kouign Amann (P69).

During this year’s Pride Month, Butterboy also offered a “french vanilla fantasy” croissant that caught the attention of many members and allies of the LGBTQIA+ community.
