So what kind of fish are fishballs made of?

Have you ever wondered how your favorite street food fish ball is made? Curious what type of fish manufacturers use to produce fishballs?

Unang Hirit on Monday, had one of the biggest fishball suppliers in the country, Prime Supreme King Company, giving us the lowdown on how fish balls are produced.

Prime Supreme King Company manager Stephen Carlo Tan Hai said they use Imelda Fish to produce the beloved street food item.

Imelda Fish, a freshwater fish from cultured ponds in Pampanga and Laguna, tastes not unlike Maya-Maya, Carlo said.

In this fish ball supplier factory in Valenzuela, Carlo gave "Eat Girl" Love Anover a tour of how they make fish balls, which starts by grinding the deboned Imelda Fish.

Then they mix it together with other ingredients including flour and seasoning, which takes up to seven minutes.

After that, the mixed ingredients is cooked and turned into flat, coin-sized shaped fish balls.

After cooking, the fish balls are dried carefully before packaging.

The Prime Supreme King Company supplies fish balls nationwide, including other street food staples like Kikiam, Squid ball, and Chicken balls, among others.
